This is an original design made by Darby Raymond-Overstreet.

The method through which this print was made is relief printing. Darby carves and cuts her plates from paper board to attain a relief image, which is then applied under pressure to paper with inks.

Spider Beginnings is a design I created with the intention to create a pattern collage of a spider known as the Southern House Spider Kukulcania Hibernalis. These spiders have evolved with us and now prefer to create their homes on the outside of human dwellings, so we have developed a mutually beneficial co-habitation of sorts. They take care of unwanted pests and we provide a safe place for them to live. Thus the pattern itself is about balance and relationships and the home. It’s about living in harmony with our environments and with those whom we share it with.

These prints measure at 12.5″ x 12.5″ and are printed and embossed onto white BFK Rives Paper.
